About Debra
I have developed this interest and passion to help people through
diet and nutrition because I have seen and felt the differences
in myself when I eat well and when I “go off the wagon.” The
difference in how I feel is incomprehensible when I am eating
right, but even with everything I know, I find it hard to eat
right in this culture of readily available delicious junk foods
that are so addictive. My particular weaknesses are sugar and
ice cream. I would call myself a sugar addict like an alcoholic
would call him/her self an alcoholic. Once an addict, always
an addict. There always has to be that vigilance and that support,
and that is what is missing in this society, the support it takes
to make and keep these changes permanent in our diet. My goal
is to facilitate people in keeping to the goals of their diet. Most
people have an idea of what to do, but doing it is another thing.
That is why there are so many sick and hurting people, because
of what we eat. There are mountains
of research pointing to diet as the key factor in your health
as well as what you think. Diet can
literally switch off genetic predisposition.
I have a special interest in helping people with chronic and insidious health problems to get better and more vital, through detoxifying the body. I have been to 2 week-long programs and gone through this process myself and find it to be the single most powerful thing to achieving health quickly and profoundly. It made a tremendous difference in how I felt each time I went through this process. I like to guide others through this process of detoxification in the home setting so that they might achieve good results as well.
My credentials are a M.S. in Public Health Nutrition from Case Western Reserve University, and a M.S. in Mental Health Counseling from Central Connecticut State University. I found early on that disseminating nutritional information was not enough to get people to change chronic behavior patterns in eating. Thus, I attained the mental health degree and have taken many spiritual healing courses to help with the deeper underlying issues that cause people to not follow their best path. |
